Who we are

Tucked into the heart of downtown Scottsboro, Two Sisters Square is more than a public space — it is a sanctuary of sound, story, and shared spirit. Once an ordinary parking lot, it now rises as a state-of-the-art, intimate music venue: a place where world-class acoustics meet hometown warmth, and where every note finds a place to land.

From the moment you step inside, you can feel it — the presence of something cherished, intentional, and rare. Murals sing from the walls, fountains soften the air, and the stage waits patiently for voices, strings, and stories. This is a space built for music, built for connection, built to be felt.

Two Sisters Square is a gift — to the city, to the community, and to the musicians and artists who will stand beneath its lights. It honors the legacy of Jessie Sue Bynum and Lucy Bynum, the “two sisters” whose generosity and spirit sparked the vision that became this vibrant cultural heartbeat.

Here, art and community intertwine. What was once blank now bursts with creativity, painted and shaped by local hands. It is a living canvas — a celebration of culture, memory, and the beauty of gathering.

Most of all, Two Sisters Square is a home for music. A place where performances become moments, where audiences feel every chord, and where the magic of live sound reverberates long after the final note fades.

Whether you come to perform, to listen, to celebrate, or simply to be still beneath the open sky — you are part of its story.

Two Sisters Square isn’t just a venue.
It’s an experience.
A legacy.
A heartbeat made of music.

WHO ARE THE SISTERS

Who are the two sisters? Jessie Sue Bynum and Lucy Bynum were the daughters of H. O. Bynum, Sr. and Lora Bynum. Natives of Scottsboro, they were descendants of the founder of Scottsboro, Robert Scott. Both were brilliant students. Lucy earned a PhD and Jessie Sue earned a master’s degree. They were world travelers, deeply interested in literature, music, history, and art. Most importantly, they were devoted to the prosperity, well-being and education of their community. H. O. Bynum accumulated a large estate, which was ultimately left to Jessie Sue who died in 2005. Jessie Sue’s will created the Bynum Foundation which has been the source of generous grants to numerous charitable and public causes in Scottsboro and Jackson County, including the construction of this park. Two Sisters Square is dedicated in loving memory of two of Jackson County’s finest citizens.
