Julie’s Fountain stands as a tribute to Julie Gentry-Michaels, educator, artist, friend, and volunteer, whose vision and encouragement helped to inspire Two Sisters Square. Julie spent nearly three decades serving Scottsboro as an elementary teacher, art teacher, director of Cumberland Presbyterian Mother’s Day Out and board member for Scottsboro City Schools. She also volunteered her time to serve with Scottsboro’s Woman’s League, as well as Main Street Scottsboro, where she was a board member, Vice President, and design committee member. Her creative spirit and inspiration provided the spark that led the Scottsboro Main Street Design Committee to transform this former parking lot into the vibrant park and music venue we enjoy today.
